GMP Large Size Bin Washer

We are in the testing department of the company where these days we are completing the testing of two important washing machines named Binwasher because their main purpose is to wash and dry bins.

For those who do not know well what they are containers that are used to produce drugs. In this moment we have precisely these two machines, one of a medium size and this on my right is the biggest until today never realized, with the chamber of 10 cubic meters sizes and capabilities to wash bins up to 2.600 liters sizes.

The other peculiarity of this machine is that it can also wash bin of small sizes and different sizes up to bins of 50 liters, this thanks also to a motorized telescopic system that   will explain in detail later main features of our washing machines are the finishings that are extremely cared, by example we have rounded corners that allow the perfect drainage of all washing fluids.

We have the finish of all our chambers mirror polished with roughness under 0,3 microns, which is a specific request for injectable liquids production areas, but we also apply the same for oral solids plants to which these two machines are dedicated.another feature is the complete automation, also about the possible use of washing baskets to wash parts that are not containers / bins, but parts that are installed on packaging lines rather than on granulation /preparation lines of drugs before being packaged.

All these machine parts previously disassembled are then loaded on special baskets which are introduced either manually or on Optional Automatic conveyors, that load automatically the baskets there is a system of automatic coupling that connect the preparation of fluids system to the washing basket equipped with nozzles dedicated for every single piece.These are machines completely engineered and customized according to the specific needs of the customer both in terms of sizes and in terms of positioning of the parts in fact, we realize in 3D all the drawings of the baskets that house the parts to be washed, we verify that there are no shaded areas inside these baskets on which each part must be reached by fluids with the projection of washing cone  we understand if it will cover the whole part to be washed and then we proceed with the construction of the customized basket.As they say are the details that makes the difference and our machines are rich in these details, let's start talking about the doors. Doors are made of stainless-steel sandwich we do not use glass doors as some of our competitors because we have seen that operator handling metal pieces often brake door’s glasses.

The characteristics of our doors are applied both to the small washing machines that precisely to those of large size like this. We use only inflatable seals because they are the only one that guarantee the perfect seal to the water and air so we have completely watertight and airtight chambersOur machines are equipped with photocells inserted in special sight glass because evidently, the environment is quite  aggressive and they cannot be exposed directly into the chamber. Photocells detect what we are introducing i.e. they understand as a function of the light that iscommitted a specific size of the bin and then if there is an operator error that typed a wrong recipe relevant to a different bin size, the machine gets into alarmLet see some details of ours machines. In this case we made a machine for 1000 liters size bin  and we see that the telescopic cylinder is equipped with four pipes.

Those pipes that are placed in diagonal and their scope is to dry inside the bin.The same telescope carry out both the part of washing during the washing phase and  the hot air during the phase of Drying.  The inclination of both the pipes of the telescopic cylinder that those of the ceiling are used to give a turbulent air motion inside the camber, creating a kind of vortex and increasing the thermal exchange during the drying phase. Drying it is also facilitated by these vents you see that are used mainly with sterile filtered compressed air to make a first blowing to remove what could be small water residues maybe because the Bin is not perfectly flat and a small depression holds water.  filtered compressed air removes the main part of the water then decreasingthe complete drying cycle time.Another feature of this machine the possibility to wash the bottom valves without disassembling them we have two dedicated nozzles in the bottom part and therefore we avoid tha the operator disassembles the valve every time and wash it manually.

The locking system of our machines  is tendentially manual we also have machines with automatic door closing but are often combined with automatic loading systems in fact we make complete plant with chain conveyor systems in stainless steel where the operator at the beginning of the shift places all bins, launches the recipes and goes away.The machine alone detects what type of bin and knows what kind of recipe should be started and at the end of the shift the operator goes back to unload all bins on the clean side from this chain conveyor.What you see behind me is  our washing skid. All the washing machines have this skid where the washing fluids are prepared, then  will be used in the washing chamber as if it were like “the engine” of all washing machines.In this skid in particular we have two tanks dedicated one to the tap water and the other to the purified water on a customer specific request. We have an heat exchanger in this case the heat exchanger is shell and tube exchanger we always adopt this type of exchanger as we do not have basin systems with heat resistance inserted that are in our opinion not cleanable and not GMPAnother feature of our skids are all made in stainless steel tubulars this is not really because it is required since they are installed in a technical are but because in our workshop we do not work carbon steel to avoid any cross contamination problems.
